Ronald H Thomas of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on October 24, 2025. He was born on January 18, 1943 in Delta, Utah, to Francis Harvey and Helen Elizabeth Cook Thomas. Ron was the fourth of five brothers: Arnold, Allen, Richard, and David. He grew up with a love for the land, a quiet demeanor, and an adventurous spirit that stayed with him throughout his life.
Ron attended Delta High School, where he was an accomplished member of the track team. Ron was known for his speed, and his relay team held a school record for more than 20 years.
In 1963, Ron married Ann Corbett. Together they had three children: Scott, Lynn, and Laurie. They divorced, and Ron would later marry Patricia Aldrich on September 30, 1978; welcoming her two children: Shannon and Ronald, into his heart and family. In 2014, Ron and Pat were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ron was a man of many passions. He loved hot rod cars, hunting, music, dancing, dragon books, and animals—but his horses particularly always held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in his service with the Jeep Posse, where his call number, “1 Papa 157,” was known by many. Ron had a gift for making friends wherever he went, and his easy smile and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A hardworking man through and through, he found joy in both farming and truck driving, and kept doing what he loved well into his 70s before finally retiring at age 74.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife: Pat. He is survived by his children: Ronald Scott (Tammy) Thomas of Oak City, Utah; Lynn (Margie) Thomas of Delta, Utah; Shannon (Bob) Allard of Layton, Utah; Laurie (Mike) Jackson of Abraham, Utah; and Ronald (Angela) Thomas of La Pine, Oregon; as well as 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
All Ron’s friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life held on Monday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m. at the M.E. Bird Center, 240 W 100 S, Delta, Utah; to come share memories and celebrate Ron’s remarkable life.
