Ronald J. Verri, 78, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 4, 2024. Born in Providence, on May 6, 1945, the son of the late Gene and Mary (Giammatteo) Verri.
Ron was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Verri (Conneally), his daughters Christine Higgins and her husband, Donald Higgins, Jennifer Verri and her partner Marvin Rogers, and Lauren Thomas and her husband, James Thomas. His brothers Robert Verri, Esq., and his wife Kathy and Richard Verri, Esq., and his wife Saundra. His sister-in -law, Patricia Brady (Conneally) and her husband Phil. His greatest joys were his five grandchildren Olivia, Ryan, Shane, Emma, and Marcus. Ron leaves behind his nephews and nieces all of whom he loved spending time with.
Ron had the rare gift of being able to make a friend out of anyone he met. He was an avid reader who never stopped learning. He shared his passion for learning with his family and everyone he met. Ron was extremely kind and gave to all he met without expecting anything in return.
Ron graduated from Classical High School in 1963, where he was an all-class runner. He graduated from Brown University in 1967. An engineer by trade who was continuing his post- graduate studies at Cornell University. However, in 1973, Ron left to begin working with his father at Gem-Craft Inc., the family jewelry business. During the heyday of costume jewelry manufacturing in Rhode Island, Ron worked closely with his father making Gem-Craft what it is today, a creator of beautiful jewelry designs for many well-known fashion companies, a standout among the many costume jewelry manufacturing companies. In the 1990's, Ron kept the doors of Gem-Craft open while most costume jewelry manufacturers in Rhode Island closed their doors or moved production overseas. During his tenure at Gem-Craft Ron worked closely with many top fashion designers. He continued working up until his death.
Ron's family was his world. He will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 10th at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church 65 3rd Street East Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
