Ronald Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cox Funeral Home - Manchester on Sep. 8, 2025.
Ronald Preston Walker, 60, of Woodbury died Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.

Mr. Walker was born on February 27, 1965 in Warm Springs, GA, the son of Carl Webster Walker and Amy Louise McGraw Walker. He worked for many years as a directional borer for various telecommunication companies, namely Primoris and Utility. He was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as choir director and song leader. He loved his church family. He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing and spending time on the Flint River. Most knew him as Preston or "Fatback." Mr. Walker enjoyed his mornings spent at Smitty's Cafe, eating breakfast and being amongst friends. He was a dedicated father to his daughters, and treasured the memories made with them. He was a hard worker who always sought to help others. Always ready with a joke, he was a light-hearted and happy person, always bringing joy to others with his presence. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jackie Storey, Johnny Walker, Lamar "Mott" Walker, and Rickey Walker.

He is survived by his daughters, Madalynn (Logan) McDermitt of Woodbury, Tiffany (Lee) Lowery of Lannett, AL, and Heather (Nathan) Shepard of Hilton Head, SC; sister, Patricia Page of Warm Springs; brother, Felton (Marie) Walker of Griffin, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved grandog Paco; and schnauzers, Levi, Bam Bam, and Buddy.

The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home - Manchester at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
