Ronald Alvin Woodley, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2025, at Regency on the Lake, at the age of 77. Born on February 11, 1948, in Port Huron, Michigan, he was the son of the late Reverend John L. and Marion (Woodley) Portis.
Ronald's legacy continues through his two sons, Todd Woodley and Travis (Althea) Woodley. Ronald's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Tristyn, Todd II, Tevin, Tyler, and Jordyn Woodley, and later his great-grandchildren, Rosalia Woodley, Tyler Woodley II, and Brianna Farquhar. His love extended to his close family friend, Tina Farquhar, and her daughter, Morgan Farquhar, who were like family to him.
Ronald graduated from Port Huron High School and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army for nearly nine years, a period during which he demonstrated his patriotism and courage. He worked as a carrier for the postal service and in his spare time he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams as an avid sports fan. His love for jazz music was profound and Ronald's favorite pastime was fishing. Ronald's life was one of purpose and joy and he was a life-long member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life and believed in the importance of spending quality time with family and friends. His warm smile and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Ronald Alvin Woodley, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, service, and cherished moments.
A gathering and viewing will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, MI 48060.
