Roosevelt Wright, 76, was born on June 11, 1948, to parents Mary and Claude Wright in Montgomery County, Alabama.
Roosevelt was a 1967 graduate of Anderson High School; he was then drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country. In 1977 Roosevelt was joined in holy matrimony to Mae King and to this union two boys were born, Jonathan and Justin. He was a devoted husband and father.
Roosevelt was employed with Delphi a division of General Motors and retired after 36+ years of service. Roosevelt came to Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. He served as an ordained Deacon, participated in Sunday School, Young Peoples Group, Choir, Brotherhood, Usher and BTU. Roosevelt was an active member of the Southeastern District Indiana Baptist Youth Camp in Westport, Indiana serving as a Camp Counselor and received many awards. Roosevelt also enjoyed bringing his son Justin alongside him to camp until his health declined.
Some of Roosevelt's favorite past times were collecting slot cars, comic books, RC cars, reading Popular Science and other Science books, he loved all genres of music and singing karaoke, fishing, road trips and painting.
Roosevelt loved spending time with family and friends. He was truly a people person.
He passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, following an extended illness.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and loving wife of 47 years Mae Wright; his caring and devoted son Justin Wright. His loving sister Lucinda Williams; nieces Candice Williams and Erika Parks; great nieces Madyson, Leilah and Sarah; aunt Ruth Ella Parks of Montgomery, AL. Family-in-love Carolyn Malloy of New York, Supt. Samuel (Pearlen) King, Carl (Debra) King, Tommie (Toemeka) King, Michael (Teresa) King, Carol "Cissy" King, Dawn King and Jesse Braxton (special friend Sina Gibbs) all of Anderson; Annie Sallie, Claudia Blunt and Mattie Wilson. Special cousins Frank Fuller and Nancy Reed. Special friends Tony Walker, Stanley Roberts, James Welch, J.D. Nunn, Evan Warrior, Timothy Leavell, Barry Miller and other family members and friends.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, son Jonathan Wright and brother Charlie Parks. Family-in-love Clayton Williams, Tommie and Virginia King, Charles "Bobby" King, Anthony King Sr., Joyce "Niecy" King and Rodney King.
