It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rory O'Kane, who departed this life on March 13th, 2025 at the age of 60. Born on September 10th, 1964, formerly of Drumquin County Tyrone, Ireland.
Throughout his life, Rory was known for his unwavering kindness, infectious sense of humor, and his devotion to making those around him happy. Whether it was with a well-timed joke, a reassuring word, or simply his easygoing presence, he had a rare gift for lifting spirits and making people feel at ease. His laughter was contagious, his heart was open to all, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. To those who knew him, Rory was more than a friend or neighbor, he was a source of light, laughter, and support. He had a way of making even the smallest moments special.
Rory is survived by his three children, Claire Worthington (Née O'Kane), Maura O'Kane, and John O'Kane. He is also survived by his sister Monica O'Kane, and brother Gerard O'Kane, He also recently discovered through Ancestrty.com that he had six half siblings and several aunts, and Finally survived by his Partner of 11 years, Mairead Moore and her two children Hana and Eamonn.
Throughout the decade Rory and Mairead spent their time traveling back home to Ireland and exploring other destinations such as Iceland, Nevada, and Arizona. One of their favorite shared experiences during their travels was dining out and trying new things. They delighted in sampling different flavors, embracing unfamiliar dishes, and enjoying the atmosphere of each unique place. Rory, always open to adventure, was eager to explore new tastes and settings, while Mairead loved the conversations and memories that came with each meal. No matter where they went, whether sharing a meal under the open sky or tucked into a cozy corner of a restaurant, their travels were filled with laughter, companionship, and a deep appreciation for eachother and life's simple pleasures.
Visitation will be held at The Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home on March 18th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at 6110 Riverdale Ave Bronx, NY 10471. Cremation will follow. His ashes will be brought back to Ireland for burial next to his Parents (Pat And Una O'Kane) and sister (Sinead O'Kane) on his birthday, September 10th 2025. Rory will be deeply missed and though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will endure in the laughter, love, and cherished memories he leaves behind. Rory's presence was a gift, and while he may be gone, he will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. May he Rest In Peace.
