Rosalean S. Whalley Rosalean S. Whalley, 83, of Charlottesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at her home in the Canterbury Hills section of Albemarle County. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James A. Whalley; her daughter, Martha Aswell; and her brother, Armond. She was born on November 18, 1929, in York, Pennsylvania. Rosalean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother as well as an excellent teacher of music. She was one who believed in applying herself totally to her responsibilities both in her life and profession. Rosalean taught in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mountain Brooke, Alabama, and several other locations during the family's travels. She enjoyed and was particularly effective in her duties within her church in teaching and in performance with both voice and hand bells in support of service. Rosalean was an avid lover of all animals. She is survived by husband, Albert; two children, Christopher and his wife, Laura, and Lucy and her husband, Dennis; a son-in-law, Tom Aswell; and three grandchildren, Moria, James, and Nicholas. The family is very appreciative of the warm condolences of friends, neighbors, and others who have come in contact with Rosalean through the years. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at St. Paul's Memorial Episcopal Church, 1700 University Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia. A private burial will be held following the service. Friends may sign the guest book at teaguefuneralhome.com.
