Rosalee Brock, 85 of Hulen, KY departed this earthly life while surrounded by her loving family and was received into the awaiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born to the late Felix and Alliefair (Smallwood) North in Redbird, KY on May 31st, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years and the love of her life Wilk Brock, infant son Wilk Michael Brock, granddaughter Alesha Brittain Goodlett, and grandson Wilk Michael Brock; sisters, Betty Jackson, Lucinda Patterson, Bonnie Sizemore, Lomar Smith, Louise Brown, Ruby Powers, and Mary Magdalene Maxwell; brothers, Richard and Gene North. Rosalee was the youngest and last living child of Felix and Alliefair. Her love of God and family shall live on through her surviving children Sandy Adams (Craig), Marsha Brittain (Bill), and Steve Brock (Candi); grandchildren Rev. Billy Brittain and Whitney Brock; great grandchildren Zoey and Zadyn Goodlett, and their dad Michael Thomas Goodlett; special and longtime friend Neil Barnes; her faithful canine companion Cocoa whom she loved more than any written word could ever describe. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews and friends. Rosalee's unwavering love for family stood the test of time.
Rosalee was the highest performing student in her Wallins senior high school class, and her teachers encouraged her to seek a career in education. When students at Wallins School went on homebound, Rosalee was the one they relied on to prepare and teach their lessons. She especially excelled in Math, and teachers would have her assist struggling students; many of whom were older than Rosalee. She talked about her favorite teacher, Mrs. Serena Burkhart, right up to her passing. It was in Mrs. Burkart's class where she learned the books of the Bible. She was the first student to learn them and earned a pint of strawberry ice cream to eat in front of the entire class. Then she represented Wallins School when she was invited to the First Baptist Church of Pineville to recite the books of the Bible in front of the congregation. Even at the age of 85 she could recite them without pause or error.
While growing up in Molus her family had a large yard full of apple trees, and she would spend many hours sitting under her favorite, the family's Sheep-Nose apple tree studying, eating nabs and drinking pop. She enjoyed the swaying of the branches in the summer's breezes and often told how sitting under that apple tree was one of her most fond memories. Other wonderful childhood memories that she often told included having her sweet, loving brother, Richard, pull her around in a little red wagon. She also often told of her more mischievous brother, Gene, chasing her with wooly worms. She was close to all of her seven sisters and grew up singing in the local Baptist church with them. This is where she learned from an early age about the teachings of Jesus. She called His name many times throughout each day and referred to Him as her best friend. One could always hear her sing His praises on high. During her lifetime she attended and was saved at Tugglesville Baptist Church, attended Blackmont Baptist and Binghamtown Baptist Church.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to long-term caregiver Charlene Boger. She was by Rosalee's side for over a year, and during that time they developed a special and unmatched friendship. Additionally, the family would like to thank caregivers Cynthia Howard and Shelia Scott for their love and comfort.
Oh the wonderful life Rosalee lived growing up, marrying and raising her children, but it is of no comparison to the life she is now living in the Kingdom of Heaven. It's always been said what a great reunion day it will be, and in that we can all rejoice... for she so loved the Lord. In loving memory of Rosalee, contributions can be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 2972 S. US Highway 25E, Barbourville, KY 40906.
