Rose C. (Picaro) Anderson, 79, of Ellington, beloved wife to the late Hartley L. Anderson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 29, 2024. She was born on July 9, 1944, in Hartford, daughter to Nicholas S. and Henrietta (Neillo) Picaro.
Rose grew up in Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of Bulkeley High School. Continuing her education, she received her bachelor's degree from Trinity College in Hartford. On October 2, 1965, Rose married the love of her life, Hartley. They spent their first 14 years together residing in Hartford. Rose was employed at the former Society for Savings Bank and she attended Masses regularly at St. Augustine Church. In 1979, they relocated to East Windsor and became parishioners of St. Marianne Cope Parish- St. Catherine Church. During that time, Rose began employment at the Aetna Insurance Company where she was employed for almost 30 years as a pension specialist before her retirement in 2010. Throughout her life, Rose had an immense love for animals. She had many pets throughout the years and saw them as family members of her own. In her spare time, you could find her knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she looked forward to baking delicious Italian food for her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her two children, Alice M. Quinn and her husband Dennis of Ellington, and Nicholas J. Anderson and his wife Giselle of Middletown; her five grandchildren, John "Jack" Quinn and his wife Stephanie of Ellington, Nicholas Anderson of Lebanon, Margaret Quinn of Ellington, Katherine Quinn of Vernon, and Noah Anderson of Middletown; and her great-granddaughter, Gemma Anne Quinn; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., (Rte 83) in Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marianne Cope Parish- St. Catherine Church, 6 Windsorville Rd., Broad Brook. Guests are asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tails of Hope Foundation, Inc., c/o Litchfield Bancorp, A Division of Northwest Community Bank, Attn: Lisa Frank, Assistant Branch Manager, P.O. Box 997, Litchfield, CT 06759-0997.
