In Loving Memory
Rose Marie Marcello (Spennacchio)
July 31, 1965 - April 13, 2025
With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Rose Marie Marcello, who left us on April 13, 2025 at the age of 59. A devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and caregiver, Rose dedicated her life to helping others – both in her family and through her calling as a registered nurse.
Rose was a Registered Nurse and worked at Rochester General Hospital for 28 years. As a labor and delivery nurse for more than half of those years, Rose had the extraordinary honor of helping bring new life into the world. Her calming presence, gentle hands, and compassionate heart made her a source of strength and comfort to countless families during life's most precious moments. She was not only a skilled professional but also a loving soul who treated every patient with dignity, kindness, and respect. Rose thoroughly enjoyed her job and loved all her co-workers like they were family.
She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, a fun-loving sister, and a loyal friend. She poured her heart into everything she did – whether it was creating a warm and welcoming home, supporting her children at all their sporting events or lending a helping hand to friends, family, or strangers in their time of need. She raised her children with love, patience, and wisdom, instilling in them the importance of family love and kindness. Her selflessness and nurturing spirit touched the lives of everyone around her, and her legacy will live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
Rose was born in the City of Rochester to Sally and Anthony Spennacchio on July 31, 1965 and passed away peacefully on Sunday April 13, 2025. Rose and her family grew up in Gates and she attended Gates Chili High School, class of 1983.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Marcello; children, Samantha, John, and Joe, sisters, Dorothy Wittman (Jeff), Catherine Spennacchio and Ann Schubarg, brother, Sam Spennacchio, brother-in-law, Bob Marcello, sister-in-law, Joyce Marcello, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews, friends and co-workers, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Though her time with us was far too short, her love, spirit, and strength will continue to guide us every day.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, taking family vacations, entertaining and decorating for birthdays and holidays and making beautiful jewelry for all of us to enjoy.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who sent gifts, cards, meals, prayers, and kind messages during Rose's journey with cancer. Your generosity, thoughtfulness, and love brought comfort and strength during some of our most difficult days.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 24 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 3003 Dewey Ave.
Rochester, NY 14616 beginning at 10:00am.
