Madeline Mary Battaglia Herbert passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Highland Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family, who had been by her side throughout the week

Madeline was predeceased by her parents; her devoted husband, Daniel; and her sister, Marie Bresler. She is survived by her loving children: her son, Daniel; her daughters, Laurie Brunette and Lisa (Tom) Reina. She also leaves behind her sister, Joanne Brooks; her brothers, Frank (Mary) Battaglia and Enrico Battaglia; and her brother-in-law, Gary Bresler. Madeline was a proud and devoted grandmother to Serena and Robert, Angelica, Alaina, and Anthony. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Madeline will be remembered for her love of family, her quiet strength, delicious food and playing cards.

She was born on September 5, 1943, in Rochester, New York, the beloved daughter of Angela and Joseph Battaglia. Madeline was a proud member of Gates Chili High School's first graduating class. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Daniel. Together they shared 57 years of marriage and raised three beautiful children.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, January 27, from 4:00-7:00 pm at DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. Inurnment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory.
