Rosendo Jesus Dimas, affectionately known by all as Jesse, was called to his eternal home on September 3, 2025, in his birthplace of
Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on March 1, 1938, Jesse's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his dedication to his community.
Jesse's journey began in the vibrant city of Corpus Christi where he grew up surrounded by the love and warmth of a bustling family. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lexington (CVA-16) from 1955 to 1959. His time in the service was a defining period of his life, instilling in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried with him always.
Following his honorable discharge, Jesse returned to Corpus Christi where he met and married the love of his life, Rachel. Together, they raised a family that grew to include their beloved children: the late Leticia (John) Karstedt, Debra (Paul) Gomez, Diane (David) De Los Santos, Daniel (Kathleen) Dimas, and Devry (Patrick) Avet. Jesse's legacy further extended to his adored grandchildren: Vince Brulloths, Christopher B. Gomez, Christine (Dustin) Sanchez, Caitlin B. Gomez, Dayna (Eric) De Los Santos, David Jr. (Nikki) De Los Santos, Aaron Pegley, Kelsey (Preston) Pruitt, Dylan Avet, and Charles Avet, as well as his cherished nine great-grandchildren.
Professionally, Jesse was a respected piano technician at Di-Bros Piano, where his skillful hands brought music to life until June of this year. He was also a valued employee of the Al Amin Shrine Temple, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting impact.
A devout Christian, Jesse lived his faith through his actions and his service. His life was a living example of the Biblical calling to love one's neighbor as oneself, and he was a beacon of light to those fortunate enough to know him.
Jesse's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. An avid baseball fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Astros. His competitive spirit found joy in golfing and bowling, and he reveled in the thrill of riding roller coasters. Jesse was also a collector of coins, finding beauty and history in each piece he acquired. He cherished family game nights where he was the undisputed Phase 10 champion, and he could often be found trying his luck at the slot machines, always with a twinkle in his eye.
Camping trips were a source of many treasured memories, as Jesse valued the simple pleasure of being surrounded by nature and loved ones. His hands, ever capable and creative, were not only adept at fixing pianos but were also handy in all aspects of life. His sense of humor was infectious, and his selfless nature meant he was always the first to lend a helping hand.
Jesse's departure from this earth is deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit remains with us. His laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering kindness have left an indelible mark on our hearts. We take solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from the pain that cancer brought into his life.
As we gather to celebrate Jesse's life, we remember a man who was indeed the embodiment of a life well-lived. His journey on this earth may have concluded, but his story will continue to be told through the lives of those he touched. Rest in peace, dear Jesse, until we meet again.
