Shelby: Roy Dale Blackmon, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, left this world on June 3, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on July 30, 1957, in Columbus County, Roy was blessed with a lasting legacy of joy and kindness that he imparted to everyone he met. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in Cleveland County.
Roy dedicated many years of his life as a skilled machinist, earning the respect of his colleagues and demonstrating an admirable work ethic. Despite his dedication to his work, it was his zest for life and boundless positive outlook that defined him. Known for his quick wit and charming one-liners, he was always ready to share a laugh or lend an encouraging word.
His heart found true contentment during time spent outdoors, particularly on the waters of San Tee Cooper, SC, where he indulged in his love for fishing. A devoted fan of Carolina Panther Football, Roy took great pleasure in sharing his enthusiasm for the game with those around him.
Roy was a long-time member of New Life Outreach, where he found solace and community among his fellow members and worshippers.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his beloved wife, Denise Jenkins Blackmon; his son, Paul Creasman, and daughter-in-law Tracy, of Shelby, NC; his parents Elroy Blackmon and Lucille Hammonds Blackmon; and his sister, Kim Stokes, and brother-in-law Johnny of Kingsport, TN; his brother, Greg Blackmon, and sister-in-law Stephanie of Lexington, SC; and two treasured grandchildren, Ryan and Millie. Roy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and his loyal canine companion, Gypsy. His absence is felt keenly by all who knew him.
Roy was preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Blackmon, and his grandparents, J.G. "Bud" Blackmon and Odell of Chadbourn, NC.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roy's life during a memorial service officiated by his Pastor, Rev. Jerry Owens on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at New Life Outreach, 2502 Taylor Road, Shelby, NC 28152. Visitation will be held an hour prior at the church, starting at 1:00 PM.
In remembering Roy Dale Blackmon, we are reminded of the laughter he shared, the hope he instilled, and the love he gave so freely. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
