Wayne graduated from Jay High School in 1970. He then went on and married the love of his life Katy Barnhart Dunham on September 10, 1971. Wayne was a member of the Southside Church of Christ where he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized. He had a love for the outdoors, especially during the fall muzzleloader season (Deer Camp). He also enjoyed going to Roaring River trout fishing with his family. Last but not least, he enjoyed sitting at the gigging flats waiting on a sucker sandwich with his best friend Johnnie Stevenson. Wayne worked many years as superintendent at Simmons in Jay. Wayne was community driven and served as Mayor from April 1999 to April 2011. He then went on and worked several years in the pipeline industry as an inspector. He also served 20 years as a Jay volunteer Fireman JFD-28 during the years 1989 to 2009.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Katy; parents Dewitt "Rabbit" Dunham and Beulah Dunham; sister Susie Dunham; sister-in-law Carol Barnhart; brothers-in-law Pete Richards, Ed Barnhart, and Don Blagg.
Wayne is survived by his daughters Angela and husband Chris Beaty of Jay, Andrea and husband Larry Gullett of Eucha; grandkids Presley Gullett, Brayden Gullett and fiancée Jade Frazier, Rhylee Beaty, Hayden Gullett and wife Sheyanne; great grandkids Blaikley Kate, Grayson, Finley,
and Paisley; sisters Ann Richards, Lana Kay and husband Jackie Atkins; brothers Tad Dunham and wife Linda, David Dunham and wife Janet, and Jackie Dunham and wife Kristina; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Wayne's Celebration of Life Family Visitation to greet friends will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Chapel, 311 W. Gray St. Jay, OK 74346.
Wayne & Katy's Celebration of Life Graveside Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W Gray St, Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
