Roy "Bobby" Elmer Murrow, 78, of
Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 14, 1947, in Athens, Georgia, to the late Marcus E. Murrow and Dorothy Nell Kidd.
Mr. Murrow proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he dedicated himself to safeguarding freedom and upholding the values of his nation. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a self-employed heating and air conditioning contractor, leveraging over 40 years of expertise to provide comfort and quality service to his clients. He was a devoted member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship.
In his leisure time, Bobby cherished fishing trips, often sharing joyful moments on the water with family and friends. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his immense devotion to his family. As a loving husband, a caring father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Bobby's nurturing spirit and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love and service will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Jones Murrow; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Duke Fontenot, and Kari and Jorge Fabregas; his grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob Southers, Clay and Alexis Fontenot, Jorge Fabregas, and Estella Fabregas; his great-grandchildren, Brooks Fontenot and Callie Mae Southers; and his sister, Linda Owens; and brother-in-law, Wayne O'Neal.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann O'Neal.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Chandler officiating and Clay Fontenot and Randall Godwin providing the eulogy. Interment will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Don Ballard rendering the committal, and the American Legion Post #143 providing military honors. Zach Edison, Jorge Fabregas, Clay Fontenot, Alex Gordon, Mike Kidd, Chris Owens, Jacob Southers, and Stephen Sullivan and will serve as pallbearers. Phil Edison, Ronnie Burchfield, Keith Marlow, Ken Chadwick, Berkley Cook, Arlin Powers, Dennis Jones, Randall Godwin, and Wayne O'Neal will be seated as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until the hour of service.
