Roy Odle

Roy Ray Odle, 72, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed April 3, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN. He was born September 21, 1952 in Lake Preston, South Dakota to the late Woodrow and Nevah (Runner) Odle.
Roy graduated from South Dakota State where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry and received his PhD degree from Colorado State University. He retired in November 2022 from GE and the Sabic Innovative Plastics after 42 years. Roy was a Process Chemist interfacing with manufacturing and product development. He amassed over 80 patents during his career all while mentoring co-ops, interns, and colleagues. Roy was a member of the American Chemical Society and Boy Scouts of America, where he was a Scoutmaster. He was involved in the 4-H, had been a Sunday School Teacher, and was a trainer and member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Joseph Odle in 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy (Rezac) Odle; daughter, Rebecca Paxton (Graham); granddaughters, Alexandra and Elizabeth Paxton; brother, James Odle (Jane); sister, Brenda Scott (Del); brother-in-law, Richard Rezac (Pandy); sister-in-law's, Shirley Rezac, Patty Person (Dale) and Janet Young (Dave); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 7, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Jack Arney officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the funeral home.
