Roy L. Snyder, 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025. Roy was born on June 30, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a loving father and husband, Navy (Vietnam War) veteran, and career firefighter, having retired from the Indianapolis Airport Authority after 45 years of service.
Roy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Rankin) Snyder, his children, Michelle (Darron) Woodward, John Snyder, and Joe (Keli) Snyder, his grandchildren Noah (Elisabeth) Woodward and Emilee Woodward, his great-granddaughter, Alice Woodward, and his siblings, Marlin, Barbara, Bonnie, Cindy, David, Larry, Tom, and Mike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Rose, and siblings John and Rosemary.
Roy requested no funeral services. He has requested his ashes be scattered by his family at a future date and time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, supporting first responders, military service members, and their families.
Roy was an exceptionally kind soul with a great sense of humor. He was always the first to lend a helping hand. His kind heart and care for others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
