Obituary of Roy Karol Stucky
Roy Karol Stucky
December 14, 1942 – July 23, 2023
Roy Karol Stucky passed away July 23, 2023, at the age of 80.
Roy was born to Karol and Dorothy Stucky in Red Wing, MN on December 14, 1942. His family relocated to Springfield, OR while he was still young. They were very active with the Boy Scouts and Thurston Christian Church. Roy was in the first graduating class of Thurston High School in 1961 and went on to receive a Forestry/AG Technologies Degree in 1964 from South Western Oregon College. He was a proud Guardsman of the US Coast Guard, which brought him to Astoria OR, where he met his soon-to-be wife in a soda shop. Roy married Alice Mathre March 25, 1966. Together, they raised five children: Jason, Heather, Kyle, David, and Anna in their Cedar Flat's home until her untimely death in June of 1987. Despite his devastating loss, Roy continued to be a devoted father, provider, and churchgoer. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and ride horses- fast. Roy was so creative and gifted in self-sustaining. He was an avid reader and could figure out almost any problem. He valued helping and teaching others, especially anything to do with farming or the bible. Roy was a dedicated employee at Weyerhauser for over 40 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on his ranch, building new and innovative things, and collecting. In his final chapter of life, Roy bravely battled dementia.
Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children Jason Stucky, Heather Buckridge, Kyle Stucky, David Stucky, and Anna Hubbard, his brothers: Kneil, Toby, Dean, Richard, and Robert, and his sister, Louise Woosley, as well as, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Please join family for a celebration of life at 1pm on August 19 at Thurston Christian Church, 6680 Thurston Rd, Springfield OR. (Reception of dessert and coffee to follow.) He will be laid to rest at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
