Ruby Jean Anders Greer was born on April 6, 1945 to Frank Anders Jr. and Ruby Lee Wert Anders in Point, Texas. Her parents relocated to Mineral Wells, Texas when she was 6 months old in order to pursue a better life. Ruby was the fifth of six children born to her parents.
