Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation CenterRuby Elaine Culvahouse, 78, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Franciscan Health-Michigan City. She was born on June 13, 1947, in Kingsford Heights, IN, to Arden and Mary Elizabeth (Young) Culvahouse.
She worked as a laundry press operator for both Schaefer and Essling laundries. Closer to retirement, she worked as a housekeeper at La Porte Hospital and was named Employee of the Month several times because of her hard work and wonderful rapport with the patients and staff.
Ruby is best known for her infectious laugh and always enjoyed a good joke. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved to read. She was a member of the La Porte Missionary Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Joe Culvahouse, Elsie Lotter, Mary Ethel "Punk" Hager, Carl Culvahouse, and Ardith Adams.
Ruby is survived by her sister, Ruth Keene of Cartersville, GA; her brother, Jerry Culvahouse of Bainbridge, IN; many nieces and nephews; a wonderful group of friends, affectionately known as "The Golden Girls"; a prayer group known as "The Girls Around the Table"; and her church family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at La Porte Missionary Church with Pastor Steve Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the La Porte Missionary Church, 104 E. 18th St., La Porte IN 46350.
