Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Services, 867 S. James Road, Columbus, OH 43227. Interment: Eastlawn Cemetery.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more." Rev. 21:4 ESV
Ruby Jean McKinnon, 82, of Columbus, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, June 16, 2023 with her precious daughter and caregiver, Sheriba, by her side.
Ruby Jean Mckinnon was born November 26, 1940 to her loving parents Mattie and Ralph Nelson of Columbus, Ohio.
Ruby was a God-fearing woman of faith and wisdom. After graduating from South High School, Ruby began working at The Ohio State University and eventually retired. She cherished spending time with her daughter, watching "cowboy" movies, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later in life Ruby spent many happy memories during her day at Lincoln Heritage Adult Center. Her greatest achievement was being the monarch of her loving family. She was a lover of smooth jazz and owner of many records. You could always find Ruby with a warm smile on her face. Ruby was known for being strong-willed, kind, loyal and caring. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family and friends.
Ruby was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Surviving her to cherish her memory is her true love and daughter, Sheriba McKinnon; her adoring grandchildren Juane Hayes and his wife, Shannon, Shardae Lee and her husband, Wallace, and Matthew Mckinnon; her protector and granddog, Lucky; her precious great grandchildren, Saniyah Yarbrough, Juane Hayes Jr., DeShar Frazier, Duane Hayes, Julian Hayes and Jus Lee; beloved nieces and nephews Gayla Johnson, Melanie Johnson Rhonda Nelson, Trina Nelson, Rodney Nelson, Tori Wilson; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her sister Betty Wilson; brother Leroy Nelson; aunt Jessie May Green; nieces and nephew Stacey Nelson, Kim Johnson, Eugene Nelson.

I have so many fond memories of Ruby when she attended the Heritage Day Health Center, she loved to laugh and have fun with her friends there going on trips to shop or have lunch I loved her laugh and big smile. What a pleasure to have known Ruby and ba a small part of her life. To the family please she loved you so much she always talked about you all with so much love. God bless Linda Ross
