Ruby was given the nickname "Snookie" by her grandfather when she was young and most people knew her by that name.
On September 26, 1981 Ruby was united in marriage to Mel Reichling in Watertown. Ruby made a longtime career being a driver examiner with the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles (DOV). She also spent time being a respiratory therapist and working with the handicapped.
Her husband Mel was an avid fisherman and she loved spending time fishing with him. They were able to live in Alaska for one year while Mel worked on power lines. Ruby enjoyed doing crafts. She took pride in her flowers and found joy playing with her cats. She also liked to attend her great- niece's events. Ruby always had a good time traveling with her girlfriends, she had a lot of friends and the best sister a girl could ask for.
