Rudell was born on August 29th, 1934 and passed away on
April 8th, 2025 at the age of 90The Life Story of
Rudell Price
Rudell Price was born on August 29, 1934, in Bishopville, South Carolina to the late George W. and Cora Lee Bess. Rudell was the only child from their union.
Rudell attended the school system in Bishopville, South Carolina until age thirteen when she and her parents migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1947. She continued her education in the School District of Philadelphia where she graduated from Simon Gratz High School.
She met and married James Albert Bethea and from their union, six beautiful children were born and raised. Rudell was supportive in her children's education and school activities which included ballet, tap, track, gymnastics, and musical instruments.
Rudell worked as a surgical sterilization technician in a Philadelphia hospital. She was later employed in the housekeeping department at Girard Bank; and later retired from Wells Fargo, where she worked in the housekeeping department for many years. Rudell loved her job, and many grew to love her and her warm personality and genuine kindness.
Rudell enjoyed spending time with her children and loved it when they all came together as a family and prepared food, shared stories, music, singing and dancing and lots of laughter and happiness which filled the air. This made her heart happy. Rudell touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and unwavering faith. She was a woman of strength, who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, going to the shore, traveling, sewing and making the ordinary extraordinary with her keen eye for beauty in the smallest details.
Rudell dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized on September 10, 1959. Her service to Jehovah God was very important to her. She enjoyed and looked forward to attending circuit assemblies, Regional Conventions and the Kingdom Hall where she attended meetings. Rudell was a member of the East Falls Congregation and had come to have many spiritual brothers and sisters.
Rudell was proceeded in death by her husband's Luther Price and James A. Bethea, her daughter Renee' Bethea and son her James E. Bethea.
Her legacy will live on through her daughters Ruth L. Gandy, Felita D. Pearson (Ellis) and Maria Bethea-Frisby (Lester), and her son Andre' L. Bethea, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, Banks McNair, one aunt, Dorothy Bunch, and many relatives and friends. We would like to extend a special thank you to Rita Gibson-Pasture, Mia Ford, Myrtle Gillespie and Ronnisha Henderson for providing exceptional caregiving to our mother.
One of her favorite scriptures was: Psalm 37: 10
Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more
