Rudolph Odell Hunt Jr.

Rudolph Odell Hunt, Jr. passed away on November 8, 2025 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Rudolph found his greatest sense of purpose in serving his country, dedicating more than 20 years to the U.S. Army, including tours during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. A proud and disciplined soldier, he carried those same values throughout his life. Though a stoic and private man, Rudolph was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. After his distinguished military career, he continued his service to the community through more than two decades of work with the United States Postal Service. He valued health and fitness deeply, finding joy and strength in staying active throughout his life.
Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Sr. and Erma Hunt; and his brother, Christopher Hunt, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Kum Hwa Hunt; daughters, Patricia Tinsley, Kimberly Hunt, and Crystal Hunt; sisters, Toni Lawrence and Mary Leonard; grandchildren, Evann Parker, Arianna Tinsley, and Jeremiah Tinsley; nieces, Lauren Bell and Whitney Hunt; and nephews, Christopher Hunt, Jr. and Carl Leonard.
A service will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 12:00 PM at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, North Suffolk Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior at 11:00 AM on November 20, 2025. A burial will take place at a later date at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery.
