Rudolph Lawrence Konz (Larry) peacefully passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 98. He was a lifelong Catholic, devoted husband to Anne (deceased) and beloved father to 9 children, grandfather to 19, great-grandfather to 24, and a proud US Marine Corps veteran.
Larry lived a 'storied life' filled with unique experiences, lifelong curiosity, youthful explorations, a strong work ethic, and fondness of power boating. Born in 1926, he was astute from an early age, a consummate learner, living a life using common sense and clever thinking - eventually graduating from the school of hard knocks. He eagerly became a young patriot in the Marine Corps at 17 years old, and after returning home was married, raised a family, and became a successful businessman in the lumber industry.
Boating seduced him at an early age and many dark, cold November/December nights found this 12-year-old boy in a skiff, finding passage up the perilous currents of the Fox River for Power Squadron classes in Menasha. He went on to travel tens of thousands of nautical miles between the Mississippi River, Bahamas, Canada and the US. Larry was a skilled maritime enthusiast and quite revered for his seafaring acumen of nearly 85 years.
Throughout his life Larry was actively involved in many roles at St. Mary Parish, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League, American Legion, US Power Squadron, a founding member of the Appleton Yacht Club, Father Glenn's Mission Club. In addition, his heart was always touched by Catholic educational values and supporting non-profit organizations, especially caring for orphans in the US and Mexico.
A blessed man, Larry possessed a gift for illuminating conversations, adorned with an upbeat personality, charm and adorable wit, Larry made friends everywhere he went. Those privileged to know him will cherish the legacy of love, honor and faith that he has given us
Larry is survived by: 9 children Larry (Shirley), Durango CO, Judie (Kurt) Koeppler, Oshkosh WI, Connie (Phil) Martini, Washington Island WI, Leigh (Paul) Grube, Sherwood WI, David, Kewaunee WI, Dan (Carolyn), Appleton WI, Tony, Oshkosh WI, Maribeth (Peter), Stuart FL, Michael, Stuart, FL.
Grandchildren: Craig, Kurt, Alex, Kaitlynn, Petra, Greta, Kyle, Lizi, Lauren, David, Jason, Ben, Ross, Kayla, Ryan, Peter, Rudy, Annemarie, Michael, in addition to 24 great-grandchildren. 2 sisters: Dorothy Mayernik, Appleton and Karen Konz, Honolulu, HI.
Preceding Larry in death is his most precious wife, Anne M Konz (2001), parents Dorothy and Rudolph Konz, brothers, Don and Glenn Konz along with several aunts and uncles.
The family is truly grateful to Larry's faithful and amazing personal caregivers, Pat and Lexi. God bless you both - you made his world a better place.

My condolences to the Konz family at this time of loss. My best memories will be of Larry behind the wheel of the "Jacktar" . He was a skilled "captain" and always at his best on the water....his happy place. A true old fashioned gentleman! Semper Fi!

I just wanted to thank your kind and generous father who told me about an Orphanage in Mexico that he supported. I learned some muy importante life lessons there and it´s thanks to kind and generous people like your dad, Fred Rodgers and Helen Hayes who I met while serving there. Be with the angels, Larry (Dad Konz).

Aaron, our children (Joshua and Kaitlyn) and I are blessed to have known and be known by Uncle Larry. He personified Psalm 118:24 having an overflowing joy for life that always made us smile. We were always so blessed to spend time with him, grateful for his kindness and charm and love for family history. We soaked up every word. And loved every boat ride, letter, phone call and konz factory tour

Celebrating and cherishing the legacy of love and family he leaves behind for us. He will be missed. Love in Christ, Aaron and Trisa Fischer
