Rueben Pruitt, Jr., 86, husband of Dorothy Anne Pruitt and resident of Columbia, died Saturday, April 19, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Paten Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to Magnolia Foundation: 900 S. Born November 5, 1938 in Eagleville, TN, he was the son of the late Rueben Pruitt, Sr. and the late Mary Susie Sircy Pruitt. Rueben married the love of his life, Anne, on June 13, 1959 and spent 65 wonderful years together. He worked for Nashville Bridge Company for many years before retiring from First Farmers & Merchants. Mr. Pruitt enjoyed sitting back in his recliner and watching Atlanta Braves Baseball, but above all he loved his family, especially his grandkids, and his great grand kids.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Anne Dalton Pruitt; Children, Darrell (Shirley) Pruitt, David Pruitt, Douglas (Tammi) Pruitt; grandchildren, Shelby (Jon) Ferguson, Shauna (Steven) Garrett, Paten (Ashton) Pruitt, Lucas (McKinsey) Pruitt, Jesse (Ryleigh) Pruitt; great grandchildren, Nora Janelle Pruitt, Anderson “Andy” Garrett, Lucy Estelle Pruitt; Brother, Jesse Eugene Pruitt; sister in laws, Mary Alice Pierce, Margaret Louise (James) Sparks; and heaps of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
In addition to his parents, Rueben is preceded in death by his great grandson, Grayson Allen Pruitt; brothers, Casper Thomas Pruitt, Earnest Savage Sr., J.T. Pruitt, Oscar Pruitt; and sisters, Velma Hudgins, and Mary Helen Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Paul Butts, Darrell Pruitt, David Pruitt, Douglas Pruitt, Jon Ferguson, Steven Garrett, Paten Pruitt, Lucas Pruitt, and Jesse Pruitt.
The family would like to give special thanks to NHC nurses Madi Flemming, Felicia Morris and Hospice nurse Ashley Patchin for all their care.
