Rufus N. Martin, 93, of Mifflinburg, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at his home.
He was born on May 18, 1932, in Leola, Lancaster County, the son of the late Rufus M. Martin and Katie Nolt Martin. On November 30, 1954, he married the former Katie H. Burkholder. who survives him. Together, they shared 70 years of memories.
Rufus worked as a lifelong Farmer.
Rufus was a member of the Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife Katie are thirteen children: Emma and husband Eli Reiff; Ivan and wife Lena Martin; Rufus and wife Vera Martin; Edna Klinepeter; Lizzie and husband Alvin Sensenig; Lydia and husband John Reiff; Ammon and wife Erma Martin; Daniel and wife Arlene Martin; Katie and husband Floyd Martin; Aaron and wife Marietta Martin; John and wife Mariam Martin; Levi and wife Marlene Martin; James and wife Andrea Martin; along with 77 grandchildren, 183 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Pauline Martin.
Also surviving are two brothers and their wives, John and Catherine Martin of Versailles, MO, and Aaron and Nancy of Fortuna, MO, and three sister-in-laws, Lydia, wife of the late Levi Martin, Edna, wife of the late David Martin, and Alta, wife of the late Henry Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus M and Katie W Martin; one son, David B Martin; 4 brothers, Ammon, David, Levi, and Henry; one sister, Emma; one brother-in-law, Warren Martin; one sister-in-law, Vera Martin; and three grandsons, Jonah Martin, Eric Martin, and Stephen Reiff.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 457 Martin Drive, Mifflinburg. The family service will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Further services will be held at the Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church beginning at 9:30 a.m., with Bishop Lloyd R. Zimmerman officiating.
Interment will be in the adjoining Church Cemetery.
