Russell Oscar Bolm

Russel O. Bolm, 92, Kewaunee, Russ was born June 1st 1931, to the late Oscar and Edna Bolm in Bark River, Michigan. Russ was raised on a small farm with his sister Doris and brother Paul. They all learned that self-reliance and hard work was needed to get a head at that time.

During that time, he was also introduced to Mary del Chartrand, who became the love of his life.

After graduation, a friend enticed him into joining the U.S. Merchant Marine to work on the Ore boats, where he spent his time traveling the Great Lakes seeing the industrial Midwest.

In 1956, Uncle Sam called him up and sent him on a 2-year tour of Europe.

At his discharge, Mary Del met him and his Austin Healy in New York. On their way home, they decided to elope to everyone's surprise.

After moving to Menominee they started a family with the birth of their son Mike, and after moving to Green Bay, they added their daughter Terri.

In 1970, they moved to Tisch Mills, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Russ helped out in the local 4-H groups, and as a volunteer fireman. Russ would help out many neighbors if they were having problems with lawnmowers or household appliances, usually for nothing more than a thank you and a cold beer.

After retiring from 35 years at Montgomery Wards, they returned to the U.P. and with the help of their son built their "Camp" This was a place they loved to spend time with friends and family especially "the boys", grandsons Max and Sawyer

Russ was a man's man, doing what needed to be done when it needed to be done, he was as laid back and easy going as they come and to see him upset or mad was a very rare thing.

Even later in life, as life delt him heavy blows, be it health related or the loss of Mary and Mike, he took it all with grace and dignity. His sense of humor and iron clad handshake never waned. Russ left this world April 19, 2024, doing what he had to do without reluctance or complaint.

Russ will be deeply missed by his daughter Terri and Son in law Frank Haese, as well as his grandsons Max Haese and Sawyer Haese.

Russ touched many lives along the way and the family asks that you remember him in your own way.

The family would like to Thank the staff and residents at Caraton Commons of Green Bay and Kewaunee Healthcare center in Kewaunee. They all made him feel at home, while he was there.
