Russell Lee Helmandollar, age 72, of Hartwell, GA formally from Cyclone, WV. passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 20, 1953, in Welch, WV. He was the son of Walter and Betty Jane Helmandollar.
Russell was a coal miner and member of the UMWA. He was a founding member of the Cyclone Trophy Club and worked diligently to help establish the Cyclone Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Holly Springs Baptist Church.
He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially enjoyed attending family reunions at the Riverside Campground in Abingdon, VA.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie Jean Helmandollar.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, his sons Kevin (Dana) Helmandollar of Sevierville, TN, and Chad (Logan) Helmandollar of Cyclone, WV, and daughter Megan (Andrew) Lehman of Julian, NC.
Grandchildren, Haven Jade (Ryan) Stinnett, Elijah (Emma) Helmandollar, Kamryn Reece Blankenship, Vaden Lehman, and Konner Lehman.
Brothers and sisters, Larry Helmandollar of Texas, Ricky Helmandollar of Oceana, WV, Teresa (Dwayne) Ralph of Virginia, Dale (Tina) Helmandollar of Oceana, WV, and Lisa Simpson and companion Frank Jones of Ghent, WV as well as his Uncle Jim (Sheila) Rasnake of Virginia. Sister-in-law Betty (Kenny) Huffman and brother-in-law Ray Martin of Kopperston, WV.
Many nieces and nephews and special friends, Carol Jean, Ruby and Leslie Lusk, Timmy and Julie Simpson, Matthew and April Johner, Gail Johner, Jimmy and Janet Gibson, his little beagle Charlie who never left his side, and many other loving family members and friends.
Following his wishes to be cremated his family will honor him with a celebration of life on April 19th, 2025, at Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church of Cyclone, WV. Visitation at 12:00 pm and services will follow with Matthew Johner officiating. The family was served by Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, Hartwell, GA.
