Rusty Grinstead

Rusty Wallace Grinstead, age 31, passed away at home in the early hours of Saturday, May 3, 2025. Though his journey was marked by struggle, Rusty's life was defined by love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Son to Gus Grinstead and his wife Sharon Grinstead, and his mother Wendy Maurer, Rusty was cherished. He was a beloved grandson to Mary Edith Grinstead and Earl William Grinstead, as well as Bobbie Jean Coffey and William Lincoln Maurer. He was a brother to Meghan and Josh Gunn, and Michael Grinstead. He was a devoted fiancé to Makayla Nickles and a proud father to four beautiful children: Bentley Starnes, Ryleigh Grinstead, angel baby "Baby Grinstead", and Ryder Grinstead. His heart extended beyond immediate family-he was a loving uncle to Aubrey Hart, Kellen Grinstead, and Arlo Gunn. He was a nephew and cousin to many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a friend to all, but a best friend to Michael Banner. He shared a special bond with his two dogs, Honey and "Fattie Maddie." He bonded with his firstborn son, Bentley Starnes, through their love for music. Born and raised in Tennessee, he loved to fish and gaze upon the mountains he called home.
Rusty had a contagious laugh and an adventurous spirit. He loved to live in the moment, to make others smile, and to create lasting memories with those he held close. Above all else, Rusty loved deeply and fought tirelessly for the people he cared about. His loyalty and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Though his life was cut short, Rusty's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered not for the battles he lost, but for the love he gave, the joy he brought, and the strength he showed.
Rusty has now joined in rest his grandparents Mary Edith and Earl William Grinstead, his grandfather William Lincoln Maurer, his friend Michael Banner, and his angel baby, "Baby Grinstead".
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-7 pm at Jeffers Funeral Service Downtown. The Celebration of Life will be held at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jonathan Malone officiating.
