LOWELL - Ruth M. (Gingras) Barsamian, age 100, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital following a brief illness.  She was the beloved wife of the late Souran J. Barsamian, who died in 2020.  

She was born in Lowell on December 19, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Clara F. (Breault) Gingras.  She received her education in Lowell schools.  

Prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed for many years as a tax examiner for the IRS in Andover.  Earlier in life was employed by the former Giant Store in Lowell and as a stitcher during World War II.  

She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting.  

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Donna M. Barsamian and Rosanne Barsamian, both of Lowell; her granddog Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.  

It being her wish, services will be private.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
