Ruth Ann Garrett Cason entered the church triumphant on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born in Columbia, SC on June 2, 1934, to John William Garrett and Ruth Livingston Garrett.
Ann attended and graduated from Winthrop College in 1956 with a B.A. in English. During her junior year she went on a blind date with a handsome young Clemson cadet, Robert (Bob) Cason, whom she later married. Bob and Ann were married 68 years. During their marriage they moved several times, started a family and ultimately found their way back to Bob’s hometown of Clinton where they remained. Ann was a devoted wife and mother and found joy in raising and nurturing their three children. She was sure of her faith and lived her life to serve others. Ann held many various leadership roles in the church over the next 57 years, enjoyed studying her Bible and presenting Scripture lessons, volunteered with the Literacy Council by helping elementary children learn to read, coordinated performing and visual arts events for Laurens County Arts Association, and assisted with alumni events for Winthrop College. Ann was also an avid Clemson Tiger fan and loved to cook for a good tailgate, cheering the Tigers in Death Valley and on the road. She and Bob were grateful for the opportunities to travel the world with friends and see sights and experience different cultures.
Ann will be remembered for her bright, easy-welcoming smile, her hospitality and gracious nature, love of the Lord and her church and her devotion to her family. She will be missed by all who knew her and leaves a lasting legacy of love to her family.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, her brother William (Billy) Garrett, her son Robert “Bryan” Cason, a niece and two nephews. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Lewis Cason; her daughter, Barbara Bedenbaugh (Tim); son Glenn Cason (Etta); granddaughter, Jessica Radabaugh (Paul); grandson, Garrett Bedenbaugh (Tanya); great grandchildren Cason, Caroline, and Charlotte Radabaugh and Camden Bedenbaugh, sisters in law Roslyn Martin and Jeanette Hicklin, and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at Presbyterian Home, Via Hospice, and the private sitters that cared so lovingly for her in her final months.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Morgan Byars and Rev. Dr. Mike Alexander officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in Cunningham Center.
