Ruth M. Cook

DOVER – Ruth M. Cook, 81, entered into rest at 6:06 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of the late Gerald N. Cook who died April 21, 2025. They were married 61 years.

Born June 23, 1944 in Hamilton Township, Adams County, Ruth was the daughter of the late Mervin D. and Ellen S. (Dutery) Myers.

She graduated from New Oxford High School in 1962 and worked as a bank teller for Adams County National Bank for over 40 years, retiring in 2010.

Ruth was an active member of Bermudian Church in East Berlin and previously, Wolgamuth Church of the Brethren in Dillsburg. Church was her life. She was a former treasurer for Southern Pennsylvania District Church of the Brethren. Ruth enjoyed scrapbooking, playing piano, singing and cooking.

She is survived by her two sons, Neal G. Cook and wife Ingrid, and Galen D. Cook, all of Dover; and granddaughter, Elizabeth R. Cook. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clair Myers.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Ruth's life at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Bermudian Church, 279 Bermudian Church Rd., East Berlin. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Firster. Burial will be private in Wolgamuth Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bermudian Church, 279 Bermudian Church Rd., East Berlin, PA 17316.

Ruth and I worked at the bank. She was always busy and cleaned out several relatives homes after they passed. We'd kid her saying "Ruth is cleaning 'outhouses' again" She was a dedicated Christian, wife, Mom and grandma. She's with Gerald now but will be remembered. Deb Rentschler
