Ruth Marie Fuller

Ruth Marie Fuller, age 65, of Bradford, PA and Olean, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. She was born on July 6, 1957 in Corning, the daughter of the late Philip and Vesta (Wilson) Hurd. She graduated from Addison Central School, class of 1975, Houghton College, class of 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and St. Bonaventure with a Master's Degree in Education in 1986. She married Philip Fuller on August 29, 2003. He predeceased her on July 17, 2019.
Ruth was a music mentor to many students and family. She was an accomplished flautist and she was very active in theatre. Ruth was the music director for Olean Community Theatre, Inc. and she was the creator and director of Octaves Jazz Band. She served as adjudicator for NYS School Music Association and she retired from Hinsdale Central School where she worked as a music teacher for her entire career.
She is survived by her siblings, Eleanor (Ralph) Cobb, Richard Hurd, and Phyllis Quinn, and a sister-in-law, Carleen Hurd. Ruth was a loving sister and a loving aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews and beloved friends, Diane Smith, Karen Schaffer Linen, Debbie Place, Cindy Baker, and Amber Kaple. She will also be sorely missed by her beloved feline companion, Rudy McToody. Along with her husband, Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Douglas Hurd, Donald Hurd, and William Hurd, nephew, Paul Hurd, sister-in-law, Barbara Hurd, and brother-in-law, Michael Quinn.
A celebration of Ruth's life will take place at the Addison United Methodist Church, 8 Front Street, Addison, NY on Saturday, May 27, 2023. A luncheon will be held there at 12:00pm, with Calling Hours to take place from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The Funeral Service will take place at 3:00pm, with Burial following immediately after at Elk Creek Cemetery. There will also be a memorial celebration in Olean at a time yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Ruth's name to the Olean Community Theatre, Inc., General Fund, PO Box 100, Olean, NY 14760.
