Ruth Hall, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, departed this world on February 8, 2025, at the age of 93 in Sellersburg, Indiana. Born on June 2, 1931, in the quaint town of Mayking, Kentucky, Ruth carried with her a warmth and love that touched countless lives.
Ruth's life was a beautiful testament to devotion and care. As a homemaker, she dedicated herself fully to raising her four children, pouring her heart into nurturing them with love and wisdom. Her children, Roger (Sonya) Hall, Teresa Burr, and Lisa (Wayne) Bryson, remember her as a guiding light in their lives, always putting family first and instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance. As a proud mamaw, Ruth found her greatest joy in her grandchildren—Dawn (Rick) Paris, Roger (Samantha) Hall, Jr., Tara (Chris) Miller, Jen (Will) Darnell, Zandria Basham, Eric (Alicia) Burr, and Tiffany (Brad) Gilbert. She adored each of her 13 great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth's spirit shone brightly in her passions. She found solace in reading her Bible, cultivating her beloved roses, and immersing herself in gardening. Her needlepoint creations were a testament to her artistic flair and diligence. Ruth's faith played a central role in her life as she was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Henryville. There, she loved to sing and worship the Lord, sharing her voice and heart with a congregation she held dear.
While Ruth's life was filled with love and happiness, it was marked by loss as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hall, and her son, Fred Hall, alongside her parents, Lewis Baker and Hanna Mullins, and her siblings. These losses were profound, yet Ruth remained resilient, using her strength to lift others around her.
Friends and family will gather to honor Ruth’s remarkable life during a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana in New Albany on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Together, they will celebrate the legacy of love and laughter that Ruth leaves behind—a true embodiment of grace and resilience.
Ruth Hall may no longer walk among us, yet her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She taught us the value of family, faith, and joy in the simplest moments; for this, she will always be cherished and remembered.
