Mrs. Ruth Blackmon Horton, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025. She was born on December 27, 1938, in Sumter, SC, to the late Cleatus J. and Evelyn Cecil Arrants Blackmon.
Ruth was a devoted member of Beauford Baptist Church, where she shared her faith and knowledge as a Sunday School teacher. She was also actively involved in the Evelyn Blackmon Ladies Class and the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her cherished husband, T.L. Horton; her daughter, Beth Horton; and her brothers, Richard Blackmon and Edward Blackmon;
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Threatt (Scott) of Jefferson, SC; her brother, Rev. Dr. Cleatus Blackmon (Susan) of Taylors, SC; grandchildren Justin Threatt (Kelsie) of Kershaw, SC, and Courtney Threatt of Summerville, SC; as well as her great-grandchildren, Tillman Threatt and Talen Threatt.
A funeral service will be held at Beauford Baptist Church in McBee, SC, on Saturday, August 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers from Gentiva Hospice and to Tammy Foight for the help given in the care of Mrs. Ruth in her time of sickness.
