Ruth Kaye Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery - Scottsdale on Jan. 2, 2024.
Ruth S. Kaye, 96, passed away December 26, 2023 in Tempe, AZ. Ruth was born in 1927 to Samuel Shapiro and Nimcha "Nellie" Shapiro (Spoker) in New York City, NY. After graduating high school at age 16, Ruth entered nurses training and subsequently became a registered nurse at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx, NY. Soon after WWII, she met the love of her life, Sanford Kaye, and they married in 1948. In 1958, Ruth and Sanford, along with their two sons, moved to Arizona. They had their third child after moving to Arizona, and Ruth was devoted to raising the three children, and quite involved in their school parent-teacher associations. She was active for many years in community theatre, painting, and ceramics. Ruth also went back to school and earned a bachelor's degree in business management. She worked in the health insurance field for a number of years as a medical claims supervisor. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Nellie Shapiro, her sister Martha Clark, and her husband Sanford Kaye. Ruth is survived by her son Bill (Josefina) Kaye, son Scott (Renee) Kaye, daughter Janis (Walt) Lundy, and numerous grandchildren. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Graveside services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on January 9, 2023 at 1:30pm

Ruth was a lovely neighbor of ours when I was a child. She helped my mother by babysitting us when my mother was late home from work. I remember her friendly smile and wide welcoming arms. I was friends with her daughter who is a little older than me. All my memories of her make me smile.
