KIMBLE, Ruth Maxine (Weitz) - Age 95 years young, died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Independence Village, Brighton, Michigan. A Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11AM, Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton, Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Her early life was not easy. Her family experienced hard times and was split up as family. As a young child she lived in an orphanage and welfare home in Flint, later in a foster home. However, all that changed when she met Raymond Kimble. They were married on December 3, 1940, and started a family in Linden, Michigan. Thereafter, when her husband Raymond enlisted in the Army during World War II, Ruth served as a telephone clerk during the war in addition to raising their infant daughter, Carlene. After the war they went on to have three more children, Catherine, Douglas, and Debra residing in Linden until 1963. During this time, in addition to being a devoted and loving mother, she was avid in the rosary society at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, as well as being a longtime member. In the early years she took pride in being a homemaker and was a great cook and baker especially known for her Dutch Apple Pie. In 1964 her family moved to Plymouth, MI where they resided until 1985. Although she had no formal training, she became employed as a receptionist and was essentially a dental assistant, chair-side assistant and bookkeeper for a local dentist. She retired as a bookkeeper assistant and sales associate at Minervas-Dunnings. She was a top-notch golfer, and in retirement golfed more days than not earning several trophies one of which for a hole in one. She loved playing pinochle at the Loose Center in Linden, and was an avid sports fan. When the University of Michigan was playing Michigan State in basketball or football she would say that she was rooting for Michigan State but the University of Michigan paid her pension. She lived in her own home, and drove a car until she was 94. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was 100 percent devoted to her family. Her kind ways and natural beauty will be remembered and greatly missed by son, Douglas M. Kimble (Priscilla Walmsley) of Traverse City; daughters, Catherine E. (Michael) Kandel of Mesa, AZ; Debra A. (Michael) Jett of Brighton; Granddaughter Kera N. Kandel (Mesa, AZ); Grandsons, Christopher M. Jett of Ann Arbor, Patrich D. Jett (Tracy Wraight) of Ann Arbor; Great-grandchildren, Mason and Connor Jett, and Maya (Wraight) Delaney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond George Kimble; daughter, Carlene Rae Kimble; sisters, Betty Denison, Doris McCavey, Marge Wykes; and brother, Robert Weitz; and special friend, Robert Schettenhelm. The family wishes to thank her true friends until the end, Anne; Jack and Marilynn; Evelyn; nephews and nieces too numerous to mention but beloved all the same; and sister in-law, Marge. Also, the loving staff and doctors at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor specifically Dr. Edward Kim; St. Joseph Mercy Home Care and Hospice, specifically Sister Mary; and the staff at Independence Village & Laurus Home Care.
