Ruth was born on Oct. 28, 1928, in Waterbury, to the late Charles and Gertrude (Riordan) Barry. She lived a full life surrounded by loving friends and family. Ruth graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in 1946. Ruth married John Burns in 1949 and, after being widowed, married Peter Luddy in 1976. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Ruth worked for many years at the Republican American newspaper in subscriber services. Later in life, she lived with her best friend and sister-in-law, Ruth Burns, for 30 years. They spent their winters in Lake Worth, Fl, and shared many travel adventures. A devout Catholic, Ruth was a parishioner at St Leo’s and St Michael’s Church, in Waterbury. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, including James Luddy of Winston-Salem, N.C., Lois Luddy (Susan Crawford) of Wethersfield, Eileen Luddy (Edward Crocco) of Higganum, Timothy Luddy of Watertown, and Christopher Luddy of Waterbury; her step grandchildren, including Charles Crocco, Allison Rayson, Margaret Luddy, Maxwell Luddy and Jack Luddy; and her step great- grandchildren, including Brody & Preston Rayson. Ruth is predeceased by her husbands; John Burns in 1969 and Peter Luddy in 1985; her daughter, Charlene Darigis, and grandson, Sean Darigis.
