Ruth Papazian Obituary

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, George, children Stephanie Achkarian and Gregory Papazian, grandchildren Christina Achkarian Edge, Alexandra Achkarian, Nicholas Achkarian, Daniel Achkarian, Hannah and Kyra Papazian as well as great-granddaughters Elodie and Penelope Edge.
Ruth graduated from Wheelock College with a teachers degree and an MA in education from University of Connecticut and spent most of her career as a teacher specializing in early elementary education. Ruth was known for her kindness and dedication to her students. After retirement she continued to enjoy substitute teaching, travelling with her husband George and spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 3:00pm at the Titusville United Methodist Church 7 Church Road Titusville, NJ 08560. Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of my cousin, Ruth. As a child I can well remember with great fondness visits to the home of Aunt Hazel, Uncle Wilbur with his Indian motorcycle and Ruth on Dalton Road in Chelmsford. I am particularly grateful for books that Ruth forwarded to me including the Bobbsey Twins and many volumes written by Thornton Burgess. They helped me to become a life long reader, and to stimulate collections which are in my library today. I very much want to visit with you in Pennsylvania as a tribute to Ruth and to honor the fact that Ruth and George attended the wake of my wife, Carole, three years ago here in Massachusetts. However, May 3 is my birthday and family members have arranged an event for me.
My thoughts are with you.
