Ruth Margaret (Mayer) Rihm, 87, longtime Mooresville resident, passed away peacefully at her home December 23, 2023. Ruth was born on September 3, 1936, in Oklahoma, to the late Otto and Eugenia (Schalk) Mayer.
Ruth graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon, before moving to the Indianapolis area. She met David N. Rihm on a blind date, and the two of them were united in marriage for 58 years, prior to his death in 2021. Ruth was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, a member of the women’s club at the church, and worked alongside her late husband in many volunteer efforts related to the Knights of Columbus. She also volunteered her time for many years at St. Francis Hospital and through St. Vincent de Paul Society. Ruth was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, growing flowers, watching crime mysteries, and was always willing to help those in need. Her memory will be forever cherished by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include son, Mark Rihm; daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Wilson; sister, Betty Robbins; grandchildren, Desirae and Gehrig Rihm and Emma Wilson; great grandchildren, Brannon, Emma, and Landon.
Friends and family will gather Friday, December 29, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2023, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Thomas More St. Vincent de Paul Society to help those in need. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
