Ruth Marie Stoyer (nee Hoehn) of Groveland, FL passed into eternal life on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Born, September 17, 1938, to Albert C. and Mary C (Rieger) Hoehn in Butler, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor's degree in Education (1960) and returned to school obtaining her Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1988.
Ruth was married to Reverend Kenneth Stoyer in 1960. Together, they served Lutheran churches in Vandergrift and New Castle, Pennsylvania, Franklin Park, Forest Park, and Bloomingdale Illinois. She was a devoted parishioner, member of the Women of the ELCA, and active leader in Sunday School, High School youth groups, and many other roles within the church. After 40 years of service, Ruth and her husband retired, traveling in their RV until putting down roots in Groveland, FL (2004). Ruth was again active in Zion Lutheran Church, Groveland, FL and Shephard of the Hills Lutheran Church, Clermont, FL.During her recent years, Ruth enjoyed singing with many different choirs including several performances with Voices of Trilogy of Groveland. She was an active member of the exercise programs also at Trilogy of Groveland. Ruth competed in the Naperville Sprint Triathlon with her son in 2023 winning her age group. Her love of activity and joy led Ruth to work for several years at Walt Disney World during her retirement. Ruth and Ken also loved to travel and have been to all 50 U.S. States and many places around the world with friends and family.
Ruth a loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother is survived by her children Susan (Bruce) Soyring of Pittsgrove NJ; Kenneth (Kristin) Stoyer of Lake Villa IL; Carol (Craig) Laskey of Naperville IL; and Beth (Timothy) Ringeisen of Exton, PA; her brother the Reverend Doctor Richard (Carole) Hoehn and brother-in-law Richard Stoyer of Silver Springs, MD; Grandchildren: Karen, Aaron (Emily), Mariah (Brent), Steven, Rebecca, Joanna, Jessica, Alexis, Gabriella, Zachary, Katherine, and Christopher as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 59 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, 11:00 AM at Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1557 Highway 77, Elmer, NJ 08318.
