Bryan Stoyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Regency Mortuary - Sun City on Jan. 16, 2026.
Passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. Born in Greenville, Pennsylvania on December 29, 1949. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1951 by car. He always told the story as follows: "when I was only 18 months old I packed up the family and moved to Arizona. I had a dirty diaper in every state from Pennsylvania to Arizona!! "

Bryan graduated from East High School in Phoenix and was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1970 and served overseas in Vietnam. He was wounded in action on January 26, 1971 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He returned to civilian life and began work at Phoenix Greyhound Park, starting as a "Lead-Out" and working many different positions during his years at PGP. In 1984 he was employed by the Arizona Department of Racing as Chief Steward at PGP. He retired in 2006 after 40 plus years in the greyhound racing industry.

In the late 1970's he met a young lady named Susan who at the time was also Lead-Out at the dog track. They married January 8, 1979 and their first child, Kimberly Rene, was born in 1980 followed by a son Christopher Bryan in 1983. They had 38 wonderful years together before Susan's passing in 2017. Over the years together they enjoyed many trips to Laughlin, Nevada to play pai-gow and craps. They also welcomed 4 granddaughters: Gianna 1999, Eden 2009, Marley 2015 and Brylee in 2021.

Bryan loved all sports, could play any sports and was involved in numerous fantasy sports leagues. He loved the outdoors, mountains, camping and fishing. He taught all four granddaughters how to fish. He loved his family and friends immensely and was one of the most likable men many had ever met.

Bryan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Susan Stoyer; his parents, Paul and Erla Stoyer; and his brother, Dennis Stoyer. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Kim Stoyer and her boyfriend, Kris Gordon, and his son, Chris Stoyer, and his wife, Autumn. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Gianna Vanderwilt, Eden Stoyer, Marley Stoyer, and Brylee Vanderwilt. Bryan is further survived by his brother, Greg Stoyer, and his wife, Diane.

At the time of his death, we believe he was at peace and had a rich and fulfilled life. He will be deeply missed. He and Susan have been reunited.

A Celebration of Bryan's Life will be held at a later date, and he will be laid to rest with his wife Susan at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bryan's name to the Purple Heart Foundation.
