Ruth A. Troy

Homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and longtime resident of Addison, NY, Ruth A. Troy passed away peacefully at Corning Hospital with her daughters by her side on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the age of 93. Born on July 31, 1930 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gerald F. and Ethel (Scranton) Farrell.
Ruth was a graduate of Corning Free Academy, class of 1949 and later attended the Rochester Business Institute. She married John L. Troy, Jr. on May 22, 1954. He predeceased her on February 4, 2015. Ruth worked as a homemaker, raising her five daughters.
Ruth was a lifelong communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She will be remembered for her love of going to Keuka Lake and Cape May, NJ. Friends and family will remember her warm and friendly smile. She was kind and welcoming to everyone she met. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Though she may be gone, Ruth's spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Ruth is survived by her daughters: Julie (Jack) Murphy of Rochester, NY, Patti (Bill) Petta of Elmira, NY, Marianne (Jack) Kreckel of Webster, NY, Ann Marie (Jack) Maas of Rochester, NY, Beth (Paul) Costello of Painted Post, NY; Kevin, Katie (Patrick), Maureen (Brendan), Erin, Christopher (Molly), Will (Brittany), Mark (Chelsea), Brian (Anna), John (Jennifer), Clare (Rob), JD (Kristen), Lynnie (Jack), Laura (Billy), Matthew, Emily and Natalie (Drew); 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Sue Anderson and her family.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Richard G. Farrell.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 51 Maple St., Addison, NY, Fr. Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Addison. Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St., Addison, NY has been entrusted with Ruth's care.
