Ruth Yeager, 89, of Jeffersontown, Kentucky, passed away on October 5, 2025. She was born in Clermont, Kentucky, on June 19, 1936, to Minnie and Golden Riley. She was raised on her family farm in Bullitt County with none of the comforts of modern life–the farm did not have electricity or running water until she was a teenager–, but she had many simple pleasures and the abiding love of her family that set the pattern for the rest of her life.
Ruth had a noble and generous heart, and her selfless giving and care touched the lives of everyone she met. She married George Yeager, her beloved husband of 53 years, and together they dedicated themselves to raising their two children, Travis and Robin. Ruth was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and then St. Brigid Catholic Church, where her faithful presence and volunteer work set an example of charity and devotion for many. Her professional life, too, was marked by service to others, as a dental assistant for 22 years before the birth of her children, and later as a school cafeteria cook and a home health aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her first husband.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband, George Yeager; her two children, Travis Yeager (wife Mary) and Robin Nicholson; and her six beloved grandchildren, Joseph Yeager, Rita Naegele (husband Robert), Cecilia Yeager, Theresa Yeager, Veronica Yeager, Samantha Nicholson and a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40204.
Burial will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery, 1801 South Preston Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40217.
