RuthAnn V. Conter, 82, of Freeport, IL, passed away on October 2, 2024 at SSM Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. She was born on March 20, 1942 in Palatine, IL, to Claude Reckamp and Margaret (Burkemper) Reckamp. She attended Buffalo Grove Grade School, School Sisters of St. Francis High School, Alverno College, and Cardinal Stritch College. She married Ken Conter on December 26, 1971. She was a teacher and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. In the course of her career, RuthAnn taught at St. Francis School, Winslow School, Southside School, Carl Sandburg, and Freeport High School. She spent time as a diagnostician and in administration for the Freeport School District. RuthAnn loved Christmas and snow. She was a prankster who would throw an indoor snowball on occasion. She enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with her husband. For many years, she would get together with her brothers and sisters for a weekly card game.
She is survived by her husband Ken Conter, her children: MaryLynn (Ryan) Strack, Ryan (Amy) Conter, and Jennifer Conter; her grandchildren: Madeline, Olivia and William Conter. She is also survived by her siblings: Tom (Linda) Reckamp, and Melvin (Patricia) Reckamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Herbert (Geraldine) Reckamp, Kenneth (Ottoline) Reckamp, Florence (John) Horcher, Eileen (John) Kamis, Alice, Robert (Paula) Reckamp, Norma (George) Laken, Allan (Jean) Reckamp, and Wayne (Monica) Reckamp.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM, with Scripture Service at 5:30 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. Funeral Mass on Wednesday October 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM, with visitation at 9:30 AM, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport, with Fr. Peter Snieg officiating.
