It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ryan John Dunn, 42, of Bloomsburg, PA, formerly of Dumont, NJ and Clifton Park, NY, on October 31, 2024. He is survived by the love of his life, Marie and her children Drake, Breña and Bianca, his mother Maureen, his older brother Brendan, sister-in-law Amanda (Mandy), nephew Kellan and niece Mia, his younger sister Kiernan, brother-in-law Alex, and nephews Liam and Cillian, as well as his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Ryan was born on July 14, 1982 to Maureen (née McConville) and William Michael Dunn in Teaneck, NJ. Affectionately known to so many as "Funn-Dunn", Ryan had two deep seated passions in his life, sports and his family. Growing up he played, football, baseball, soccer, and golf. This deep passion of sports growing up would continue to follow him for the rest of his life, where he would always be found either watching a game on the television or monitoring one from his phone (or both). It would be an extreme understatement to say that he loved the NY Yankees, Miami Dolphins, and his fantasy football teams – as his mood would directly be dependent upon their outcomes. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in July 2001. In this capacity, he admirably served 5 years of Active Duty, reaching the rank of Sergeant while accumulating several individual awards for his unwavering dedication to duty/country and sustained top performance to include: The United States Combat Action Ribbon for demonstrating courage under enemy fire, three USMC/Navy Achievement Medals, and several meritorious team and unit awards for the demonstrated sacrifices and bravery during the Global War on Terrorism. After his honorable discharge, he became a Sales Manager for KUKUI Automotive in Las Vegas, NV.
A perfect day for Ryan would consist of enjoying 18-rounds of Golf with cherished friends and family during the day, followed by a gathering at someone's home or sports bar to watch any game(s), and eat some good food while in the company and camaraderie of loved ones.
Ryan will most be remembered for his generosity, infectious laughter, and unyielding quick wit sense of humor – with an unmatched ability to quote funny movie lines of any and all Adam Sandler and Chris Farley films. Ryan will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 9:30-11:30 AM, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628. Funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 280 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628, at 12 PM. Ryan will be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to honor Ryan's memory with donations to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516; https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/
