It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Michael O'Rourke, a beloved 19-year-old college student at UW Stout, majoring in Business Administration, who left us on September 8, 2024. He was a vibrant and promising young man, whose bright future was tragically cut short.
Ryan was born on June 16, 2005 in Monticello, MN, the son of John O'Rourke and Jillayn (Pomerleau) O'Rourke.
Ryan was a beloved son, a loyal brother, an adored grandson and a great friend. He had a passion for travel and time spent with family, and friends. He approached life with a curiosity and zest that inspired those around him. His love for hockey, golf, and pro football was matched only by his dedication to his friends and helping others.
During his short life he was able to experience many things. He lived in St Michael, MN and Phoenix, AZ. He hiked in the Grand Tetons, explored Yellowstone, saw the lights of New York City, the adventures of Disney World, and the beaches of Southern California. He often visited his grandparents in Austin, TX. His travels with family included Paris, Rome and the mountains of Switzerland.
Ryan is survived by his mother Jillayn Davis (Dave), his father John O'Rourke, his sisters Lauren Munson (Andrew), Kylee Munson (Zach) and Kateri Munson (Carson), his grandparents Clinette Pomerleau and Judy and Pat O'Rourke. He also is survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves behind a host of close friends (Matt, AJ, Tyler, Myles, Jon, Josh, and Zach) who will miss his infectious laughter, warm smile, and generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Dennis Pomerleau and a Great Uncle Gary Omer
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church. Father Brian Park will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 4-7 PM at The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael /Albertville Funeral Home. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Wednesday, September 18th.
Ryan touched the lives and hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
