Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel - PowellRyan Christopher Yelic, 39, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Columbus, Ohio August 14, 2025. Ryan was a Christmas gift and blessing, born on December 25, 1985 in Columbus, Ohio to his parents Bill and Maggie (Gordon) Yelic. Ryan spent his early life and school years in Powell, Ohio where he attended the Worthington School System and was a 2004 graduate of Worthington Kilbourne High School. During his high school years, Ryan took part in both the Kilbourne High School football and wrestling programs. Following high school, Ryan attended The Ohio Fire Academy a bureau within the Division of the State Fire Marshal and graduated in 2008. During this time, Ryan worked in both the hospitality and sales industries. Ryan soon discovered his greatest enjoyment was working with people and continued to pursue roles in both industries for the next seventeen years.
Ryan was a happy independent bachelor, and his comfortable well lived-in home was a testament to his easygoing nature. On display were an abundance of cooking utensils and well stocked shelves of glistening sauces and aromatic spices transforming his kitchen into a chef’s playground of culinary delight. Tattered team hats and faded t-shirts confirmed Ryan’s loyalty as a lifelong Cleveland Browns’ fan. Ryan’s most cherished Browns’ plays were the ones he shared with his parents and brothers, gathered in the comfort of the family living room.
Loving and caring with a heart of gold, Ryan was the kind of person that would lend a hand with a smile, offer comfort with a listening ear, and welcome others into his home with open arms. He had a smile as warm as a summer day and as bright as the sunshine. His laughter, a clear, happy sound that bubbled up from within quickly became contagious and spread like wildfire. With a beaming smile and wide welcoming outstretched arms, Ryan greeted you by pulling you in and enveloping you with a tight teddy bear hug. Ryan’s humorous nature, vibrant spirit, genuine kindness, and boundless compassion touched everyone he met making the world a brighter place. We will miss him dearly.
Ryan leaves behind to cherish his memory: parents Bill and Maggie (Gordon) Yelic; brothers Drew (Autumn) and Nate; nieces Ellie and Lily; nephews Jackson, Lucas and Alex; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Ryan joins in rest his paternal grandparents (Yelic), maternal grandparents (Gordon), his Aunt Heidi Grundtisch and his beloved dog Maverick.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4pm, Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH 43065, where a Celebration of Life will begin at 4pm.
