Sallie Ann Lafreniere, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, in Dover, DE. Born on August 18, 1951, in Salisbury, MD, Sallie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of the human spirit. She was a devoted mother, a caring friend, and a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant who touched the lives of many with her thoughtful nature.
Sallie's journey began as a beloved daughter of the late Phillip and Goldie Selby. She shared a lifetime of love and memories with her late husband Robert A. Lafreniere Sr. and was a guiding light to her children, Ann Kimbro (James) and Robert Lafreniere Jr. (Beth). Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Nikki, Jessica, Lauren, Phillip and Sarah Kimbro, and her great-grandson Arthur King. She was a caring sister to Ella Lord (Robert), Rosemary Twigg (Charles), and James Selby Sr. She is preceded in death by her brother Phillip C. Selby Jr. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Sallie's nurturing disposition was evident from a young age, guiding her towards a career in healthcare. As a CNA, Sallie provided comfort and care to those in need, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her patients and colleagues alike. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her involvement in various associations, where she advocated for the well-being of her fellow healthcare professionals.
Outside of her professional life, Sallie found solace and joy in the tranquility of her garden. Her hands, so often used to comfort others, were equally adept at coaxing life from the soil, nurturing plants with the same tenderness she showed to those around her. Gardening was not just a hobby for Sallie; it was a reflection of her belief in growth, renewal, and the beauty of life's cycles. She was a long-time member of Goodwill Baptist Church.
Those who knew Sallie will remember her as the epitome of love and faith. Her daughter, Ann M. Kimbro, and son, Robert A Lafreniere Jr were the light of her life, along with her grandchildren and great-grandson and Sallie's legacy of love and compassion lives on through them. Sallie's thoughtful gestures, whether a kind word or a listening ear, made a world of difference to those she encountered. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and providing a wellspring of strength during life's challenges.
As we bid farewell to Sallie Ann Lafreniere, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her memory will continue to inspire and influence all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Sallie's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the love she shared and the lives she touched will resonate for generations to come.
